Legal & safety
Ride safely, ride often.
Last updated September 1, 2026
Riding is a physical activity with a large animal. This page summarizes the release every rider, or their parent or guardian, signs at enrollment.
Participation and injury
Horses can spook, stumble or buck, and falls can cause serious injury even with a helmet
Trainers match every rider to a suitable horse, but riders should tell a trainer if they feel unsafe
Parents should share any medical conditions or injuries with the barn office before a lesson
Health and first aid
Trainers are certified in first aid, and a first aid kit and ice packs are kept in the barn office and the indoor arena. In an emergency we call 911 and then the contact listed at enrollment.
Supervision
Riders under 12 must be dropped off and picked up at the barn office by a parent, guardian or authorized adult. Helmets are required for every rider on every horse.
